Pakora is a fried snack. Pakoras are created by taking one or two ingredients such as onion, eggplant,potato, spinach, plantain, paneer, cauliflower, tomato, chili pepper, or occasionally bread or chicken and dipping them in a batter of gram flour and then deep-frying them Pakoras are usually served as snacks or appetisers.In southern states of India, such preparations are known as bajji rather than pakora. Usually the name of the vegetable that is deep fried is suffixed with bajji.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup half boiled canned sweet corn
- 3/4 cup gram flour
- 2 tbsp semolina
- 2 tbsp green chili finely chopped
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsp of coriander chopped
- 1/2 tbsp of cumin seed
- a pinch of soda
- salt as per taste
- Oil to fry
- Water to make batter
Method :
- Take a bowl add sweet corn, green chili, coriander,onion,salt,cumin seeds,semolina and gram flour.
- Add water slowly and mix to get little bit thick batter like consistency.
- Keep Oil for frying purpose on medium flame.
- Finally add soda to batter and mix it thoroughly.
- Add a spoon full of quantity of batter in oil and fry till golden brown on a medium flame only.
This can be served with pudina chutney or ketchup or tamarind chutney. Its best served during rainy season.
